In a bombshell disclosure yesterday, the Washington Post reported that Robert Mueller wrote a letter to AG William Barr expressing anger and frustration over they way Barr handled the Mueller report, accusing Barr of mischaracterizing Mueller’s findings in the now infamous Barr summary. A former FBI agent told Rachel Maddow last night that Mueller’s letter was significant, that he must have been angry and concerned to the point that he needed to “go to paper” and make sure to document for the sake of history his feeling that Barr had not been an honest broker. Here’s a link to the actual story:
Two weeks after receiving the letter, Barr testified in front of Congress and was asked twice if he knew what Mueller thought of his summary, and Barr claimed he did not know what Mueller thought. But the disclosure of the letter yesterday called into question Barr’s sworn testimony and many in the media were openly wondering if Barr perjured himself. Several Democrats in Congress were declaring that Barr has destroyed his credibility and should resign. Barr is set to testify before the Senate today and the House tomorrow, but it’s unclear whether he will show up. Meanwhile Democrats in the House are demanding to see the letter from Mueller to Barr, which Barr would be wise to hand over since a copy has already been shown to the Washington Post and will certainly be made public of Barr doesn’t do it first.
Barr has completely soiled his reputation and is damaging whatever credibility the DOJ still has with the public. He’s proven himself a Trump lap-dog who puts party over country despite his oath to uphold the laws and Constitution–yet another disgraceful scandal within the corrupt Trump regime.
By coincidence, the Washington Post published a scathing op-ed by Ronald Reagan’s daughter Patti Davis yesterday titled, “Dear Republicans: Stop using my father, Ronald Reagan, to justify your silence on Trump”. She writes:
“…at this moment in America’s history when the democracy to which my father pledged himself and the Constitution that he swore to uphold, and did faithfully uphold, are being degraded and chipped away at by a sneering, irreverent man who traffics in bullying and dishonesty, you stay silent.”
In the wake of last night’s revolting revelation about Barr and the angry letter he got from Mueller, the Republicans are remaining silent yet again.
Meanwhile there is very good news on the local scene. Ulster County held a special election yesterday to determine the new County Executive and Democrat Pat Ryan won in a landslide, beating Conservative Party Chairman Jack Hayes by a 3-to-1 margin. The results show once again that the Democratic base is fired up in Ulster County.
CONGRATULATIONS to PAT RYAN on an impressive victory!
Keep resisting and working to Dump Trump in 2020…
