We have one week left and it will be a fight to the finish. Activists around the district were busy this weekend canvassing and phone-banking in the wake of a historically violent week featuring the targeting killing of two African Americans by a lone white shooter, an attempt to assassinate with pipe-bombs a dozen top Democratic party leaders, including two ex-presidents, and the targeted slaughter of Jewish congregants in a synagogue by an antisemitic gunman in Pittsburgh.

Trump performed several half-hearted condemnations, reading prepared remarks from a teleprompter with as much enthusiasm as a child forced to eat soap.  But to no one’s surprise he went immediately back on the attack, holding more of his grotesque Nuremberg rallies in support of GOP congressional candidates, using the same divisive and violent rhetoric that fed the fears and anger of the recent attackers.

Democratic activists have been fired up since Trump was sworn in, and the energy and enthusiasm are still tangible in the events that have been taking place in every NY-19 county in support of Antonio Delgado.  It’s hard to know if similar energy is motivating the Faso camp.

One thing is certain–there will only be a Blue Wave if we VOTE.  Every single vote matters this year.  No excuses, no exceptions.  Make time to vote–before the Republicans make it illegal.

Meanwhile, help activists around the district GET OUT THE VOTE.  Your help can make a huge difference.  We have to make sure our base is motivated and dedicated, and we also have to make sure our message of available and affordable healthcare, tax fairness, gun sanity, and true equality make it to the independent voters who may not have focused on politics until now.  After all, political pollsters have for decades observed that a huge percentage of voters don’t focus on upcoming elections, much less make up their minds about who they will vote for, until the week leading up to election day.  So we are entering the critical window.

Let’s keep working to Fire Feckless Faso and elect Antonio Delgado.

Here are two GOTV actions happening tonight:

  • Hyde Park Canvass – 4pm and 6pm
